How does it work?

The Guttler prisma ring has been established successfully in the market for many years. Whilst the materials, dimensions and adaptations of the rings are ever changing and improving, the basic concept of this unique product remains the same.

The Guttler Prism Concept

The Guttler ring has been designed to create an even, perfect seedbed on even the most difficult soil types.

The Action

  • The Guttler prism gives both downwards and sidewards pressure.
  • The downwards pressure exerted over a narrow 'point' is likened to the action of a stiletto heel compared to an elephants foot - the force exerted over a very small surface area will increase the downwards force therefore even very lightweight rollers with give excellent results.
  • The pressure exerted through the prism will ensure the lower layers of the seedbed are firm ensuring good water retention at the plant root.
  • The concave shape of the prisms also exerts sidewards force pushing soil away from the roller surface enabling the roller to operate cleanly and well even in challenging sticky conditions.
  • The prism shape ensures the ring works only in the top layers of soil and does not sink.
  • The result prism 'cutting' edges ensure the top layers of the soil remain loose and crumbly to allow good water drainage.

Materials

Cast Iron

Heavyweight and hardwearing - the original material for Guttler rings and is used for the Guttler self cleaning rings and closing ring.

Special cast iron

Ductile cast iron - very hardwearing metal rings used in for the 56cm and 45cm Ø Guttler rings.

Synthetic Ultra material

Lightweight special plastic material - very hard wearing and strong, yet lightweight with unique non stick properties. Available as a 56cm Ø and 45cm Ø ring.

56_Ring_Small 56cm Ø rings Available in synthetic ultra material (7kg) and special cast iron (19kg). The popular special cast iron ring is cast uniquely in 2 halves making it extremely strong.
45cm Ø rings Available in synthetic ultra (3.5kg) and special cast iron (12kg).
ClosingRing_Small 33cm Ø rings Available in traditional cast iron (7kg) to fit the Guttler square shaft and also adapted for 20mm bearings for fitment to min and non till seeders. Also available in synthetic ultra material (1kg)
CleaningRing_Small 33 / 38 cm Ø Cast iron rings designed to work together as a self cleaning roller. Ideal for grassland rejuvenation work, 45/450cm Ø fitted as standard to the Guttler Greenmaster machine. Also an ideal combination for trailed press work.
45 / 50 cm Ø

Better Seedbeds...

By leaving a firm seedbed with a broken surface the Guttler ring provides the ideal soil structure for fast and even germination.
